This is a book of love from a little boy, my grandson, Connor, who was tragically stabbed and killed by a boy who lured him to the playground because he was tired of living and wanted to die himself. Connor was not afraid. He accepted the boy with open friendliness, as that was how he lived his life. Connor loved the idea that we should recognize love in everyone, and I hope that his book will be a catalyst for others to love more deeply, to forgive themselves and others more easily, and to cultivate compassion from deep within their hearts.

This book touched me to the depths of my soul ,--and even if I WEREN'T a Christian, I know I would feel the same! This book is a "must read" for so many reasons.I think we all have loved a child whether it be a child we gave birth to, one that visited our home, a friend's child or another child we've come across that touched us in some way. Just the other day I ran into such a child--this one a complete stranger with her daddy and older brother at the bus stop. One of many children that I love. Her innocent playfulness and her belief in the general goodness of people made me smile as she bounced over to stand directly in front of me, smile big and announce "I'm Ayla! What's your name?" I introduced myself and she chattered away. In her eyes (and mine) we were friends and so this 4 year old MATTERS to me and I would expend effort to help or save her.
Would I -- COULD I -- if a stranger's child hurt a child of mine or one that is beloved by me? I pray I never have to find out. However, Connor' s beloved Nana DID extend such forgiveness, grace and caring and in doing so she has honored God as well as her grandson's memory.
This book is well written. It is easily read and understood and it tells the true story of a little boy with a big heart and wise soul whose life was taken by another child. This child, the "perpetrator" also had a big heart at one time. However his was hardened by suffering perpetrated upon him. Abuse, addiction, mental illness--these are things that can taint and destroy individuals and generations.
Will YOU make a difference like Toni has for this youth offender's mother and family? IF you do, you just MIGHT save another child in the process!

A moving story that has me looking at life, live and forgiveness differently. Hey Nana! Shows a strength of spirit that is rare.
This book is absolutely amazing and so full of emotion. From the first page to the last, my face was wet with tears. I just want to thank the author for being so brave and honest to share her story. Her compassion is incredible. Her love for Connor (her grandson), for life, and for God is just amazing. We can all learn a lot from this woman's positive attitude about life.
Just received my book "Hey Nana." I have to say I immediately jumped into reading Connor's story and my face is sopping wet. I encourage you all to read his story of love. Thank you Toni for the new friendship and mostly thank you for sharing your beautiful grandsons story of love.
Heart wrenching true story of an adorable boy named Conner! His death caused so much grief but out of it all came forgiveness! Must read! Tearjerker!
What the world needs is more books reminding us that Love can move mountains. This book shows that even as a tragedy overwhelms you, GOD doesn't ever leave your side. I wasn't expecting the overall feelings that occurred when I read this book.
Connor's story is so inspiring. I found myself in tears as I read this book. This tragedy joined these two families forever and demonstrated that with God and love we can overcome tragedies in our lives. Connor's short life and death were not in vain, his death taught his family and community that love and compassion are needed by all. I admire Nana for having the courage to tell this story. I truly hope Jamarion and his family receive the same love and compassion that they deserve, for we are all God's children and have all fallen short. Peace always!
What can I say to do justice to this inspiring love story.....NOTHING! ! I can't say any...there are no words!! Just read it and you won't regret ome single second! Thank you for challenging me to be the change I wish to see. You and your family are such a blessing to this community. Cameron was in my daughters 1st grade class and I can tell you he has a heart like no other. Always asking if he could help me. Just a geniune spirit....I never met Connor but Im sure he was amazing too.
